Freightliner Racing Reveals 2016 Livery.
Freightliner Racing is excited to unveil the bold, new-look Freightliner Racing Commodore that will be competing in the 2016 V8 Supercars Championship with the teams’ new driver, Tim Slade.
Freightliner teamed with the Brad Jones Racing stable as the naming rights sponsor of the #14 Holden Commodore in 2015; in a partnership that will continue through until the end of 2017.
Slade has spent some time in the Jones workshop over the past week, having the chance to see the car in the building phase. ‘It’s been a great couple of days at the workshop. The guys are busy preparing the cars and everything is coming along really nicely. The energy in the workshop is great and I’ve enjoyed spending time with the team.’
Slade will be working with Engineer Julian Stannard, who has been an integral part of the BJR engineering group since 2010. Changes made at the start of the 2015 season meant the team were able to promote the role from within. Julian will spear-head the car #14 operation along with continuing data engineer Tom Wettenhall.
Slade continued ‘Preparation is key and I know the team are working hard to ensure that when we get to Clipsal and can hit the ground running. As always I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my fitness and even got to hit a couple of the hills around Albury on my visit.’
‘Freightliner Racing have had success at Clipsal, and when the team and I return there in March the weekend will mark BJR’s 500th V8 Supercar Race start. I hope to get another good result on the board for the guys. There is a lot to look forward to in the year ahead.’ Slade added.
The Freightliner Racing crew busy building the new chassis ‘BJR007’ for its upcoming test day and as you know the Albury squad are all about naming their cars. With the chassis number being 007 the team named the car after their favourite James Bond girl – Giacinta (played by Halle Berry). The test day will be on the 22nd of February at our home track, Winton Motor Raceway.
